Storytellers... this is the LAST GUEST of Season 6! This episode of The Storytelling Lab features jack of all trades, Mike Ganino. Mike is first and foremost a storyteller, and he exercises that in his speaking, coaching, event planning, and hosting. He's an inspiration and a joy to listen to, and we hope you get as much out of it as Rain did!

“You ever had one of those moments when you feel like you just met your soul brother?”
That’s what my guest on The Storytelling Lab said on this week’s episode… while we were actually ON THE SHOW!
But I think I have him beat.
“You ever had one of those moments when you finally meet someone whose work you admire, and they say they admire your work??”
That’s what it was like for me to “officially” meet Mike Ganino.

I’d been seeing his content and the energy and authenticity he brought to it for months. He had a unique approach to storytelling (helping people tell their stories, mostly on stage), an awesome name for his podcast (The Mike Drop Moment), and a high rising blonde pompadour haircut that went straight up in the air that he rocked like a personal logo.
This guy knew who he was. And his story showed that.
Mike first learned of the power of storytelling while working in the hospitality industry. After carefully observing why clients had great experiences at certain restaurants or hotels, he noticed that, “It was never about the thing itself (the food, the room, etc.); it was always about the story.”

From that point on, he realized that story was all about emotionally connecting with one’s audience through shared experiences. He took that realization to the stage.
Now he helps others do the same: find their own #mikedropmoments so that they can share their stories on stage in a way that makes people remember that experience forever.
And the way to achieve that is not to fake the funk, or try to be someone you’re not.
The way to do that is to be YOU. Really and truly you.
And Mike knows exactly how.
If you’re interested in discovering the way you can connect with your audience on stage or on video, this is the episode for you!
Some of the highlights of our conversation:
Finding yourself within your field
The unique power of oral storytelling
Becoming vulnerable in front of your audience
Embracing your pure expression
How to tell believable stories to your audience
Coaching storytellers for the stage
Connecting with your audience through shared experiences
Being yourself and nobody else (and loving it!)
Using storytelling in all types of industries
Taking more off vs putting more on
As always, I hope you enjoy the episode!
Peace and Love,
Rain
